Best Beaches To Visit in Byron Bay, NSW
Byron Bay is one of the most popular places to visit on the Australian East Coast, mainly due to the stunning beaches. With many to choose from, here is my list of Best Beaches To Visit In Byron Bay, NSW.
Belongil Beach
Belongil Beach is a short stroll north along the coast from the Main Beach of Byron Bay. A quieter stretch of beach, Belongil Beach allows dogs, and the waves are usually not too rough and are ideal for kids and families. This beach is perfect for a late afternoon swim or body surf.
The Pass
You wouldn’t have heard of Byron Bay without
hearing surf culture being mentioned. Byron one of those destinations where surfing is in the culture, with everyone from toddlers to the aged hitting the waves.
Surf spots like The Pass are
easy for all experience levels and are the best spots in Byron Bay for families
to practice their surfing skills. There are countless places to rent a body board or surfboard. Try Soul Souf
School for half or full day board hire or lessons.
Main Beach
Main Beach is the most accessible beach in Byron Bay, running along the foreshore, beginning at the top of the main street of Byron Bay.
Main Beach is a good surf spot at times and mostly suitable for all ages.
Cosy Corner
Cosy Corner is on the southern side of the lighthouse in Byron Bay and at the beginning of Tallows beach. This corner is a popular surf break when the conditions are good and this beach is generally wilder than the northern side beaches closer to town.
Cosy Corner is also a sweet spot for swimming and relaxing when there is little wind.
Broken Head
Broken Head is at eh opposite end (southern) of Tallows Beach. Another good surf break which gets very popular, especially on the weekends and parking can be tough.
This beach in Byron is definitely worth a visit for the rock pools and stunning views looking back along the coastline towards the lighthouse.

The Wreck
The wreck is right in the middle of town, marking the surf break and swimming spot between Main Beach and Belongil Beach. The name is based on parts of an old shipwreck still lodged close to shore. A beautiful spot for a late afternoon swim or surf.
